We had Kevin's charter for Stripers. Went way up and found the mother load of bass. Short, short bass. Caught about 50 of them and decided to go hit the bottom fish for a few after a tide change. Glad we did. Got about 10 keeper tog and PLENTY of shorts in about an hour. Went back to Stripers and found some bigger fish. Played with them for a while and headed home.
12/6 - We had Ismellfishys charter for blackfish. Another tough day with keeper sized fish. These guys caught fish allllll day just allllll shorts. Probably close between 60-90 shorts. With only a dozen or so keepers. Action all day at least.
Tuesday 12/4 we had David, Scott, Barry, Ed and his 2 friends out for tog. Headed to another area where we had some fish last week. Conditions were great at first, but not really any bites at all. Caught some shorts and a keeper once and a while. Went out east and the life was better, but mostly shorts. FOG, WAVES AND WIND ROLLED IN. Went inshore to a wreck and had zero life. Went south and was just no good at all. made several drops with nothing to show for it. Ended the day with only 8 keepers. Sorry no pics.
Monday 12/3 we had Bruce, Tony, Bob, Steve and Jimmy out for togs. Headed to some local stuff and the bite was good with shorts and only a couple of keepers. Headed north to another and zero life. Made the run all the way up and had a steady pick of keepers and shorts, but way more shorts. Couple drops there, but just never got them going. Went back southeast and picked a few there before we called it a day. Picked up the anchors at. 4:30 and headed home. We worked our asses off for these fish today. Probably had about 80 shorts. Ended the day with 19 keepers to around 6lbs. Thanks guys. Sorry no pics.(it was dark).
Today we had Andy's charter out in search for BIG tog only. Instead of the normal fishing up north with shorts and small keepers, we headed deeper southeast. Left the inlet to nice thick winter fog and an easterly heave. Got setup with 1 anchor, due to the horrible conditions and we had nothing. Spread two, to get right on the piece and it was good. Some nice fish coming in the boat over 3lbs to start. Good bites there. But we slid off and was practically impossible to get where we needed to be. 2 anchors, 1 anchor, grapple, back to 2, back to 1. Ahhhhhh! Frustrating day for sure. Finally sat still towards the end of the day picking nice 3-5lb fish and no shorts. Got them going and the south wind whipped hard making it more difficult for the guys to catch. Called it a day around 3:30pm. Got a couple of "the right bites" but only one came into the boat by mate Darren, tipping the scale over 10.5lbs. That fish was released to fight another day. The guys were in search of the big tog today and only swung at big bites. They managed 16 keepers and a bunch of shorts. Guys, ya gave it hell. Nice job, thanks again.
