Today we had Jim,Tj, Ed, Sheryl and Chuck the anchor man. Plan for the day was bass, bottom, bass. Struck out on bass in the am, and the blackfishing was horrible again. Around 1pm we started looking for something. Found some life but all blues. Played with them for a while before we decided to head towards home. Found the mother load of bass and it was game on jigging. Couple of blues mixed in at first but then all bass from 29" to over 20lbs! Pretty much not stop action for over 2 hours. Finally some good fishing. Probably hooked around 20 bass or so. Also missing another 20, due to jigging right on the sand. Put in a long day and it payed off and saved the trip! Everyone did well catching their fair share of fish. Ended our day with a limit + of 11 bass and a blackfish. Nice job and thanks again guys! The bass are here baby!
Monday 10/22 we had Jeff, Keith, Nicole and Jim out for a mix. Got right on the bass at first light with some blues mixed in. Lost a few bass and one was a short. After 2 hours of that it was over. Headed to the blackfish drops and it was another slow day. Very tough. Wind against tide all day. No bites once again. Tons of keeper seabass which were thrown back too. Some porgies and puffers on those drops as well. Made another stop on he way in and saw some stripes but only manged a bunch of blues. Gave it another long day trying. Jeff had his blues for the smoker, a keeper blackfish, a porgy and 2 nice Stripers.
Sunday 10/21 we had Tim, Dan, Murray, Sophia, Ken and Ken out for bass blues and tog. Nothing looked good for stripes or blues first thing so we went right to togs. First drop within 5 min Tim pulls a nice one around 5lbs. Then zero bites. Wiggle wiggle wiggle, nothing. Barely any bites what so ever. Made probably around 10 drops catching a few shorts and 2 keepers. Some of the worst black fishing I ever seen. On the way back we worked the deep on some readings but nothing. Last stop, game on with the blues for about a half hour. Gators all on jigs and teasers. Hate to have to save the day with blues, but it is what it is. Put another LONG day in to try to put some meat in the box but it just wasn't gonna happen. Tough day for sure. The guys kept 1 blue and 2 nice tog. Thanks again guys.
Saturday 10/20 we had Anthony's charter, with his out of town friends, out to bend some rods. Started off jigging on some readings with no takers. They wanted to troll to have some fun, so we did. Trolled 3 rods with stretches and the second all 3 were out, 2-3 fish on. All blues, giant gator blues. Caught a ton of them for a while then turned to porgies. It was all of there first time and the put 20 in the box in about an hour all drifting. They gave up quick and wanted to put more bends in the rods, so we went looking. Tons of bait with nothing hitting the jigs. Back to the barn we went. The guys kept a bunch of blues and 20 porgies or so. Thanks guys.
Saturday 10/13 we had Hanz, Bob, Louis and the "Pa Boys" out for seabass. Headed out at 6:15am to be greeted with 4-7ft nasty chop. We waited it out in the river till about 8:15, it was just too rough out. Finally left and started our way on some chop. Ended up to be a beautiful ocean by 10am. Figured we would start with porgies to at least fill a basket if the seabass didn't cooperate, so we did. Off to seabass. Went right to a dump that's always good, only taking 1 keeper!!! Uh ohh. Went back to the area we kinda were and it was drop and reel seabass for a few. Nice fish coming over the rail. Fish would ONLY bite on the drift. Wind changed and made it very tough to stay on them, power drifting for hours. Drift a spot, get bites like hell, drop the anchor, not a scratch. By days end we ended up with roughly 60-70 porgies, some nice jumbos and just over 50 nice seabass. Thanks guys.
