Today we had Craig VanOrden's charter for bass. Left a half hour earlier today. On the scene at 5am, yes the guys were drinking moonshine before I sipped my coffee! With that being said, (lol) the guys went 2 for about 10 on bass. They had a blast trying for them, but today wasnt there day. They could also thank their buddy for bringing along the banana! After the bass quit eating, we went to the fluke grounds. No drift what so ever. A few hours of fluking, we managed tons of shorts and 6 keepers. On the way in we saw some very good bait and worked it a little more, but nothing. Lotttttts of of laughs, these guys were a trip. Homemade moonshine and boiled peanuts. Smelled like fuel, not my cup of tea!
Had Paul Shoemackers charter out for live lining bass. The crew was Joe, Joe, Carl and Paul. Broke the inlet early once again and ran to some bunks and it was no good. Saw some others and started working them. FISH ON. Lost about 8-10 but boated 4 to around 30lbs. A lot smaller fish today. What a difference a day makes. They were tough to hook too. Gave the bass fishing up around 9 or so and went for the fluke. Fished till about 12:30pm, it was too hot for the guys today too. Ended the day with 7 keeper fluke and a ton of shorts and 4 stripers.
Well today we had a great crew aboard. Consisted of John, Andrew, Mike, Allen, Jim and Pop. Broke the inlet at the ass crack again. Finally found some bait and had fish on in seconds. Couldnt even snag a bunker and hand it to the customers! Rods were going off like crazy. These guys BEAT THEM UP today. Had our boat limit + 3 bonus tags by 8:15am. Then C&R till the guys gave up around 9am. Most fish we in the 30lb class, some around 40lbs, 1 fish around 48lbs, another at 52lbs and another at 55lbs+!! At 9:30am we started fluking. Boated some shorts and 5 keepers to around 5lbs. The guys MADE me go in at 11am and we were at the slip by 11:30am. Other then it being hot as **** out it was an awesome day for these guys.
Ended the day with 19 stripers, with 2 over 50lbs and 5 fluke to 5lbs. Great day on the water, see ya tomorrow. Thanks again guys!
Today we had the boys from Pleasure Bay Yacht Basin out of Oceanport, NJ. Broke the inlet early (5:15am) and everything looked great once again. Had a fish on in minutes. 1 or 2 run offs after that. Worked the bait for a while then made a move. Couple drifts then 2 nice ones on. Lost a few more and a couple run offs. Worked pods for hours hoping for a pick. Another day of tough fishing. TONS OF BALL BUSTING! Should have had a video camera! Seems to me the stripes are biting super super early. Couldnt even get the clients to the boat that early. Off tomorrow for maintenance. See what the week brings us!
Saturday 6/16 we had Justin, Evan, Brian, Lou, Keith and Keith. Broke the inlet at the ass crack of dawn to some nice looking bunker. Couple drifts and nothing. Then 3 on at once, we thought it was lights out. Landed 2 of the 3 and they were both over 40lbs. Not a touch after that. ?????? Tried for a while longer making our way towards the bottom fishing grounds, and nothing. Went bottom fishing for a while then a big ol blue shark came over and we threw out the shark rig for some fun!!! Let the guys play around with it until we decided to release the stupid thing. Ended the day with 2 nice bass(Evans PB of 41#) 4 decent fluke, 4 nice seabass and a fat ling. Tough day of fishing for sure.
