Today we had Doc Sal's charter with Tom, June, Roger, Jen and Chris. Headed to where we have been catching them and it was a slow pick. Wind died out, so we had to move around alot. Had tons of bites all day with some nice fish lost and lots of shorts with a pick of keeps coming over the rail. Had a couple a bit sick so we ended the day a little early.
Ended the day with 16 nice keepers to over 8lbs. Thanks guys.
Today we had Jimmy and his son James (12yrs old) charter the boat for fluke. Let the storm pass and made it to the grounds by 8:30am. Jimmy and James NEVER even fluke fished before. It only took 5 seconds on the FIRST drop and they both had nice keepers around 3 and 4lbs! James then caught a few shorts and wasnt feeling well and slept the whole day. Jimmy wasted no time mastering the art of bucktailing. I was very impressed. Jim caught his limit +++! WOW! On another note, they also have never caught a blue fish. Towards the end of the day, the blues were on a frenzy on rain fish. Going absolutely buck wild. We took a ride over and it was cast and reel. They sacraficed a fluke boat limit for some fun with the blues. James woke up for that! They had an awesome time and did exceptionally well fishing today.
We ended the day with 16 keeper fluke and countless shorts. Nice job today guys and thanks again!
Wednesday we had Jim's charter again. After his charter absolutely destroying bass last week, he brought some new guys to try it out. Except, there wasnt a bunker to be found. Ended up fishing the nasty stuff for fluke. The guys were fairly new to bucktailing in the rocks. Another lesson for these guys and they figured it out pretttty fast! They gave up at 2:30pm and we headed in. They caught about 200 shorts and 22 keepers to 5lbs+. Some nice fluke bites this week. The fluke are in!
Tuesday 6/26 had Ken's charter out for bass and fluke. Bass were on the machine, just not on our hooks. They were not eating at all. The guys wanted to spend some time with that so we did, and nothing to show for it. So, we gave them a little lesson on bucktailing the rough stuff. Took them some getting used to, and 10 lost bucktails but they managed 6 keepers to 5lbs.
Sunday 6/24 we ran an open boat with Chuck, George, George, Dave, Sal and Matt. Left early once again. Tried some nice pods for a while without even a bite. Water was very warm once again. Gave up trying and went to the fluke grounds. No drift for most of the day, but we had tons of bites. Definately lost plenty of nice fish. Had lots of shorts and a couple seabass.
Beautiful day out on the water for the guys. Worked at it for over 9 hours but, only ended up with 9 keeper fluke to 7lbs and 3 seabass. Thanks again guys.
