Sunday 6/3 we had Mike Warren's charter for stripes. Loaded the live well quickly and went looking. Tried ALL OVER the place. wasnt til about lunch time we had our first fish. Couple of blow ups and run offs in between but nothing coming tight. Later on after the storm we grabbed another bass. Put in a LONG ASS DAY getting back to the dock around 530pm. The guys went 2 for about 10 and drank 70 beers! WHOA!
Saturday 6/2 we had Jim Plevyack's charter out for bass. Filled the well fast and went fishing. Put in a good day trying real hard only to end with 4 fish to 32lbs or so. Little Ethan caught the big one.
Well this morning we did some maintenance on the rig. Finished a little early too! Grabbed some lunch with mate AJ and we decided to head out around 2pm. Got some bait real quick and found the fish even faster. All by ourselves. Had atleast a dozen hook ups/runoffs. Only ended up with 3 fish to 44lbs with light tackle in 2 hours of fishing. Also lost a thresher. Cant land that with light spinners. Peeled 300 yards of pp in 5 seconds with the drag as tight as it gets. Finally a nice day out for fun, catching some quality fish. Check for open boat trips next week. See ya soon!
Today we had Sal, Evan, Carmine, Jon and Randy out for bass. Made bait early and went wayyyy down to only pick one fish. Came back up to our area, where we have been catching. It was the right move. After working a few different schools, we found em. Every drift for an hour or more we got bites. Stayed with the same school the whole time til it was over.
Got our 5 man limit of stripes to 37lbs by around 1pm. Missing probably double what we caught. We tried a few others schools, then the guys wanted to head in. Dr. Sal is our new leader of the tournament with his nice 37lb bass. Its only $25 entry, with a full 6 man charter as the prize. Off tomorrow for maintenance.
Saturday we had Sals charter out for those striped ones. This time breaking the inlet to LOADS of bait and TONS of boats this morning. LOADED the well and started fishing in the schools. Instantly had bites. Blues and bass in the mix of bunker schools. Kept working different pods with a few run offs, but no hook ups.
Went deep and got invaded by the blues. But since nothing was going on anywhere else, the guys got to bend some rods and lose some tackle. It soon got old, so we left and went back to the schools. Finally got a stripe. Again worked the schools and awhile longer and picked 2 more with probably 10 run offs or pick ups, whatever.
The wind picked up and it seemed the bass were done eating, so we headed to another area. I bet Mate Darren $20 we were gonna catch em here and we did. 3 or 4 blow ups and a bass dropped at the boat in no time. Same drift again boating Vinny VINTASTIC 's NEW TOURNAMENT LEADER 36lb beauty. Put another one in quickly after. Had a personal record at 32lbs next. Then she shattered it with a BEAUTIFUL 40lb Striper. Slowed up again and called it a day.
Toughhhh fishin today but we managed 7 stripers to 40lbs and kept 6 blues. The guys and gal worked hard and we saved the trip at the end of the day. And Darren owes me $20! Pleasure having you guys!
Off tomorrow for a good friends wedding. See ya Monday!
